The phase, “Going Green.” Is a political ploy, which doesn’t have a specific definition. Still most people would describe it as being ecologically conservative. I would have to agree that Going Green does fit that broad description. What is a ecological conservative. Four words, “Waste Not, Want Not.” Being an ecological conservative is a great idea, further it is a great way to live your life.
That being said, ecological conservatism is not fanaticism. Many people who get into the so called “Green Movement,” are fanatics. They push the green agenda with unproven theories like Global Warming. Of course, now they no longer call it Global Warming, but Climate Change. They changed it because of the overwhelming evidence that fails to show that the earth is getting consistently warmer. So now it’s Climate Change. Those who promote the theory of Climate Change love that new phase. Why? Because it allows for a much broader and diverse change in the climate, that will still fit the definition of Climate Change.
Climate Change happens all around us. From day to day, month to month, and season to season. The climate is always in a state of change. A change driven by the rotation of the earth, the position of which the earth resides within its orbit of the sun. The sun without a doubt is the most abundant energy source that we have access to. The massive amount of energy placed upon the earth as a direct result of the sun, is a difficult thing to put into perspective. I will attempt to put it into everyday terms that will be easy to understand. I’ll start off with a scientific measurement of the energy the earth receives from the sun, and simplify it.
3,850,000 Exajoules, worth of energy is transmitted to the earth via light and heat from the sun alone. For comparisons, if you were to add up all the energy that is produced by man. By power plants, the burning of gasoline, oil, wood , coal, hydroelectric, wind, you name it. Through out the entire world it only comes to 487 Exajoules. That’s .0001264%, of the suns energy on earth, in other words it would take 791,139 planets. Each producing the same amount of energy that all of the man made energy that is produced combined. To equal just the amount of energy that the sun transmits to earth. Just a small fraction of 1% of a change in the energy received, would cause drastic changes in our climate. These small fractional changes happen all the time. Things which change this would include but not limited to. Cloud cover, reflective properties of the earth’s surface, and the angle of the continents to the sun. To the amount of pollution and or dust particulates in the atmosphere.
Clouds generally reside high within the earth’s atmosphere. With a high density of cloud cover, much less of the suns energy makes it all the way to the surface. A fraction of the energy gets reflected back into space, as if bouncing off of a mirror. The more extended periods of cloud cover, the cooler the earth would become.
On a bright shinny hot day. The suns energy in the form of light and heat interacts with the bodies of water. A small amount of that water is evaporated. As that evaporated moister rises into the atmosphere, it produces clouds. As those clouds condense, they produce rain. It’s all part of a cycle that continues regardless of human actions.
The angle at which the light rays from the sun striking the earth has the greatest affect on continental climate differences. The angle is what causes our seasons. In the summer time, in the northern hemisphere. The light from the sun has a much more direct angle of impact on the surface. Which causes the summertime heat. While the northern hemisphere enjoys summer the southern hemisphere experiences winter. Winter comes and goes, then spring, summer, and fall. All with out the influence or consent of people.
Another reason why there may have been a false appearance of a Global Warming through out the 80s, and 90s is smog. For those of you who are old enough to remember the 60s and 70s. Ask your parents, grandparents, or look up pictures or video from that time period, and compare it to the sky of the modern day. Those of you who are older. You might remember how hazy and dark the sky often was. This was due to cars and other combustion engines which had little to no smog reduction devices. The more polluted the sky (atmosphere) is, the less light and energy from the sun that reaches the surface of the planet.
In the late 70s and early 80s and all the way to this day. The laws that have been passed puts stricter and stricter regulations on the smog reduction requirements of automobiles and energy production facilities. As these restrictions increased. The amount of smog (pollution) released into the atmosphere decreased. As the amount of smog decreases, the amount of light and heat energy from the sun which makes it to the surface of the earth increases. As the light and heat energy hitting the earth increases, so does the temperature of the earth. Of course these heat changes are extremely small, a fraction of a degree to one degree average. And these are the size numbers the pro climate change crowds are talking about.
Man made Climate Change is an ideology that is unproven. Many scientists preach that theory as fact, many other scientist disagree that man could affect climate. Other’s just simply stay out of the argument.
Here is a simple question. If man made Climate Change is just an unproven theory, why do so many scientist adamantly study it? Well it’s simple. A small fraction of them really do believe it, but the majority of them do it as a means of receiving government grants. These grants not only keep these scientists employed and receiving an income, but also gives them the resources and finances needed to explore other scientific theories. All with the funds of the government, made up of tax payer dollars.
Tell Congress How Mad You Are With Them
